Changes coming to the Scale Division’s page stay tuned….
In the mean time lets take a look back at some great ships to have sailed the yacht pond in the past. Here’s one circa the 1980’s. This is Al L’Heureaux’s boat launching a torpedo
Circa the 1980’s another one of Mr. L’Heureaux’s masterpieces the privateer Rattlesnake sailing the seas of the yacht pond
Unknown boat throwing a smoke screen
Ooops time for a swim.
Our Scale Boat Division prides itself in building and running scale boats and ships on Saturday mornings. Boats on the pond range from elaborate, scratch-built, museum-quality models to customized ready-to-run boats. While electric power is most common, we have a number of steam enthusiasts as well.
This is the least competitive division of the group where going slow is cool. These guys not only pride themselves on their detailed design work but enjoy challenging themselves with technical docking maneuvers, pulling barges, and incorporating sound, smoke, and other effects into their builds.
Visiting: Feel free to stop in to join us on a Saturday morning (typically 9:00am-noon). If you have a scale boat, you’re welcome to run with us or to ask for building tips. Spectators of all ages are welcome as this is a kid-friendly group.
Facebook Group: Members of the scale group often share photos and videos in our discussion group on FB. Feel free to check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/891338324244325/
